Body Lift FAQ

  1. What is the size of the H-frame?
  2. How much will the Body Lift hold?
  3. What size engine hoist (cherry picker) do I need?

What is the size of the H-frame?

The H-frame is 48" across and 96" long. This seems big enough to allow securing most bodies. On short ones (like a pickup cab), the tie down straps can be slid back up the H-Frame ends. It works well with pickup beds, also.

How much will the Body Lift hold?

The body lift will handle 1000 lbs.

What size engine hoist (cherry picker) do I need?

One that is strong enough! Actually, there are a couple things that are needed. The feet generally need to extend so the hoist won't nose over when you try to lift the body. The length from the base of the upright to the end of the front feet should be somewhere in the 55-60" range. Our boom extension is 40" from the elbow. This will reach to the middle of an 80" wide car, which covers almost everything except a real Humvee. A good 2 ton hoist is usually sufficient. It does have to be one with a two piece boom, with an inner siding piece. This is removed, and our boom is inserted. We need to know the height and width of the outside of the sliding piece of tubing (in other words, what size tubing is it). Our boom has to be the same size, obviously.
