Frame Standoff
Frame standoffs are used in situations where the body is in such bad shape that some structural replacement needs to be done before removing the body from the frame. The body is lifted and the 6" standoff pieces are inserted at each body mount position. Then the body is bolted back to the frame with longer bolts. This lashes the body to the frame to maintain proper alignment, but gives working room under the body to get at everything. Once the structural panels and braces have been replaced, the body can be removed from the frame to allow finish welding, grinding, sanding, etc.
