Notice the upright post here is bolted to the axle assembly. This allows for storing in 10" of wall space when not in use.
Also notice the up/down slide between the clamp plates to balance the car. You can inch the car up 1/4" if need be to get it right. We don't think a 3" jump, which could cause you to have to push with 125 lb of force to rotate your 3,000 lb body is the way to go. This clamp plate system has been designed to withstand the load of a 10,000 lb car without slipping.
Don't worry about side to side gusseting. If the post is strong enough to handle your vehicle without bending toward the car, it can keep from bending sideways too. Unlike certain other rotisserie designs, uur axle tubing is strong enough not to need the help of side to side gusseting.
